Dr. Victor Elvira Delivers Public Lecture on State-Space Models as Graphs

On October 31 ISET welcomed Dr. Victor Elvira, Associate Professor at the University of Edinburgh, for a public lecture on “State-space Models as Graphs.” The event, held at the Mzia Mikeladze Auditorium, attracted students, faculty, and researchers interested in statistics, machine learning, and graph theory.

During the lecture, Dr. Elvira presented the paper on state-space models, demonstrating how these models can be interpreted as graphs. He discussed algorithms for estimating the linear matrix operator and covariance matrix in linear-Gaussian state-space models and highlighted potential extensions for more complex models. The lecture offered attendees an interesting opportunity to explore advanced statistical concepts and their practical applications.

The lecture provided students and faculty with opportunity to engage with international scholars and explore new ideas.
