On April 28, 2025, the ISET hosted a special seminar featuring the presentation of the World Bank’s latest report, “Navigating Fiscal Realities for Equitable Growth in Georgia,” developed with support from the Kingdom of Sweden.
The seminar began with opening remarks by H.E. Anna Lyberg, Ambassador of Sweden to Georgia, and Ms. Tamar Sulukhia, Director of ISET, both of whom emphasized the importance of research-based dialogue in tackling Georgia’s social and economic challenges.
The report was presented by Ms. Saida Ismailakhunova, Senior Economist at the World Bank and Task Team Leader for the South Caucasus Gender, Poverty, and Equity Program. Her presentation focused on the insights into how fiscal policy can be designed and analyzed to reduce poverty and inequality. The event brought together students, faculty, and policy professionals for a lively Q&A session, following the presentation.
ISET is grateful to Ms. Ismailakhunova and the World Bank for choosing ISET as the venue for the launch of this publication, and to the Embassy of Sweden for its ongoing support of inclusive policy dialogue in Georgia.
