On September 25, 2025, ISET hosted a panel discussion marking the 10-Year Anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was co-organized by ISET, Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the United Nations in Georgia.
The discussion, held exactly ten years after the UN General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, highlighted Georgia’s progress and challenges in advancing sustainable development. The event focused on two key goals: Quality Education (SDG 4) – with an emphasis on integrating sustainable development into higher education – and Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10) – addressing urban–rural disparities and ensuring inclusive access to opportunities.
The event opened with welcoming remarks by Erekle Astakhishvili, Vice-Rector of TSU, followed by a keynote address delivered by Didier Trebucq, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia. The panel discussion then brought together leading voices from academia and the UN, including:
- Nino Okribelashvili, Head of the Standing Committee for Strategic Development of TSU
- Tamar Sulukhia, Executive Director of ISET
- Giorgi Gaganidze, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, TSU
- Mariam Bandzeladze, Head of UNFPA Country Office
- Jesper Moller, UNICEF Representative in Georgia
- Doug Webb, UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia
The discussion was moderated by Dr. Nino Parsadanishvili, Head of the Horizon Europe Office at TSU.
The panel offered a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and reflecting on the progress and future priorities for sustainable development in Georgia.
