Who We Are
Founded on the vision of then Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania, ISET was created to bring world-class economics education to Georgia. With support from the World Bank, Georgian and foreign government agencies – German government, Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – and other international donors, including BP and the Open Society Institute Higher Education Support Program, ISET was launched as world class economics school within Tbilisi State University (TSU) and opened the first premier Master’s Program in Economics in the South Caucasus in 2006.
Building on the success of the flagship master’s Program in Economics, ISET expanded with a Bachelor’s Program in Economics in 2017 and a cutting-edge Master’s Program in Finance in 2022.
ISET proudly carries the reputation of the top economics school in the region.
What we are proud of
International Accreditation:
ISET’s Master’s and Bachelor’s programs are the only Economics degree programs in Georgia to have international accreditation! FIBAA (German international) accreditation ensures that the program meets the highest standards of quality and that the education received is comparable to that of leading universities around the world.
CFA Affiliation:
ISET’s master’s in finance is the only academic program in Georgia with CFA Institute affiliation! This recognition places ISET at the forefront of industry-aligned finance education.
Dual-Diploma Program of BA in Economics:
ISET offers a double diploma set-up with Germany’s Bremen University for ISET Bachelor’s program in economics. Students have the opportunity to study their fourth year at the University of Bremen and receive two diplomas upon graduation.
Dual-Diploma Program of MA in Economics:
ISET offers a double diploma arrangement with France’s Clermont Auvergne University for ISET Master’s program in economics. As part of this opportunity, students can spend fall semester of the second year studying at Clermont Auvergne University, graduating with diplomas from both institutions.
